The sun is overhead Its the afternoon light It won’t look the same A few hours later
In the darkness of the night.
My jewel box at the window In the afternoon light As it sits on the sill with a plant next to it Its such a pretty sight.
There’s hardly a shadow In the afternoon light I can see two jewel boxes One is a reflection clear and bright.
An adorning plant, in a painted pot In the afternoon light There are two of them enjoying the sun What an absolute delight!
Its only my bedroom window In the afternoon light Nothing unusual here And yet something ordinary Is in the spotlight
I like what I see In the afternoon light My pencil sketches And in my mind it etches To the image I hold tight.

My pencil seems in flight As it draws in my book To capture all it can Before the afternoon light Melts into the opaqueness of twilight.
