It is 2020 April
The only view is from the window sill
A waft of spring breeze
Brings an involuntary sneeze
The Koel and the crow
The pigeon and the Sparrow
Are singing with gusto
Flowers are in bloom
Yet there is a feeling of gloom
The clock works its cycle
Yet its needle seems idle
The sky blue and clear
Yet it fails to bring cheer
To a mind filled with fear
A virus has caused a scare
We humans have lost our dare
The world we know has changed
Our life is being re-arranged
In my lifetime this is a first
A situation unrehearsed
I feel utterly bewildered
Hope is the silver lining
Or if you please - the gold trimming
Our planet will live again
Without this continuing grief and pain
We need to believe that this is just a hyphen
That there is a better world
beyond this horizon!
