About the Still-Life painting inspired by the song - Abhi na jaao chodkar, ke dil Abhi bharaa nahi

Theme: Family together, a close knit family, work related travel compulsions, family looking forward to goods times, love and caring.

This is a still-Life painting that evokes the feeling of love and caring between family members. All of us have lived through the times where a family member has had to travel for work. The family wishes them a happy journey and successful work trip along with good wishes for their early return. The family does not want the separation to last long. The orange coloured ribbon symbolises the bond of caring.

The wall coloured beige background is meant to give the feel of things being put together in planning of a trip. The vacant spaces within the canvas are meant to silence the noises of the world outside to pay attention to our own feelings.

The antique trunks add a nostalgic feel to the painting. 

The lady of the family, the one who makes the house a home and runs it efficiently is the main character in this story. She is the one who instills the feeling of love and caring within the family and strives to keep it together. She is portrayed here by ‘Penn-Naari’ the lady who has an intelligent and loving head own her shoulders. She probably plans to have a good time when he is away too!

Fun Fact: the shape of her body is inspired from the bottle of Vaseline lotion!

In this painting the sparrows play the roles of the other family members, maybe the children or siblings or parents. It takes all the members of a household to keep the family together isn’t it?

The wooden sculpture of the man is one that I had bought many years ago from street side sculptor who was bringing life to the branches of a tree that had fallen with age.

The song - ‘Abhi na jaao chodkar ke dil Abhi bharaa nahi’ from the 1961 Hindi film Hum Dono has been one of the songs that I hum inside my head on and off. Even though it belongs before my time. The lyrics say it all without saying much and conveys the feelings so well too!

The song is sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammad Rafi and enacted by Dev Anand and Sadhana. The film is known for its music by Jaidev and lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi.
