About the painting - The showcase for family [2020]

This meaningful Still-Life painting is a 24’ X 84’ Acrylic painting which represents my family members. This is a Z shaped composition.

I have used the concept of Golu dolls to depict my family.

Theme: The unique personality & interests of each of the 3 of us has been depicted visually.

We are a small family of 3 members. My husband, son and me.

In this painting titled ‘The showcase for family’:-

• The shelf on the top

  • The left side shows the spiritual leanings of my husband. It contains his current favourite books

  • The center is a ode to filter coffee. In our household, my husband is the coffee maker!

  • Our son occupies the right side. This portion of the painting shows his interest in fiction, football and Japanese

• The lower shelf is all mine! I love to paint, read the about the life of and understand the struggles of artists. A voracious reader, I like real life people stories and biographies.

• The center portion of the lower shelf has a Rubic's cube. All the 3 of us have tried solving it quite unsuccessfully.

• The book ‘Dont sweat the small stuff’ is a philosophy we try to follow

• All the 3 of us like collecting curios, depicted here via the Murano vase.

• There are 3 sparrows - one for each of us!
